September 2022

Task 1

1. Read the course reading (7 pages) assigned for next class as per course outline: Moore, Sylvia. “A Trickster Tale About Integrating Indigenous Knowledge in University-Based Programs.” Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences, vol. 2, no. 4, 2012, pp. 324–30, https://doi.org/10.1007/s13412-012-0089-5.

2. Create a video document (2-5 min.) - with the above reading in mind - that shows how a physical object (can be more than one) is physically (not electrically powered) animated/moved. We are interested in understanding how to move inanimate objects and how to choose such objects for creative purposes. As you create this video you can BUT DON'T HAVE TO use filters (i.e. colour or sound if those are available on your recording device). Make sure you have a reason for applying such tools. No narrative or linguistic story or plot should be imposed. Try to make this video in a playful but still matter-of-fact kind of way. Allow the object and its distinct properties to lead your exploration.
